DWC Pipe

DWC stands for Double Wall Corrugated. A DWC pipe is a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe with two distinct layers: a smooth inner wall for efficient fluid flow and a ridged (corrugated) outer wall for structural strength. They are widely used as lightweight, durable alternatives to traditional concrete or PVC pipes in modern civil engineering.

Key Features

  • Lightweight & Easy to Install: Significantly easier to transport and lay than heavy concrete pipes.
  • Highly Durable: Resistant to chemicals, rust, and seismic soil movements with a lifespan of 50 to 100 years.
  • Cost-Effective: Requires less raw material to manufacture than solid-wall pipes, keeping installation and
    maintenance costs down.

Description of DWC HDPE pipes

Double Wall Corrugated ( DWC ) HDPE pipes are similar to normal HDPE pipes except that they have different external & internal surfaces which gives them additional strength and stiffness. These are made with High Density Polyethylene which has very high life expectancy. These are externally corrugated and have smooth surface inside and are available from 75 mm to 1.0 m dia. These pipes are light weight and can be used for non-pressure underground sewerage, drainage & cross drainage (pipe culvert) including rain water harvesting purposes. They are maintenance free and therefore, once installed, will lie underground for year

Common Applications of DWC HDPE pipes

Sewerage & Sanitation: Used for municipal and residential underground sewage networks.

Storm water Drainage: Safely channels heavy rainwater and runoff into municipal systems.

Cable Protection: Acts as a sturdy, flexible conduit (duct) to protect underground electrical and telecom cables.

Agricultural Drainage: Helps remove excess water from fields without the pipes buckling under farm machinery.

Uses of DWC HDPE Pipes

Sewerage / Storm Water Drainage. Sewerage treatment plants . Earthquake prone areas with high tectonic movements . Drainage & Sewerage in Buildings /Hospitals /Workshop/ Colony.

Merits of DWC HDPE Pipes

Expected Service life: 75 to 100 years.

Environmentally safe: No leaks, no cracks and no damage to environment and soil.

Socio-environmental friendliness: Pipe laying does not disturb urban clusters.

Cost effective: Uses minimal material for equal strength. Maintenance is low because of non adherence of sewage elements on the chemically inert pipe surfaces, no chance of corrosion and zero to low damages.

Ease of Installation: No heavy loading and carrying machinery is required. They are user friendly, very fast and inexpensive in installation. Use less manpower and can be installed in very constrained locations. They comes with simple push fit joints with Elastomeric sealing Ring for online system or with extra couplers. Joining time is 2-5 minutes per joint.

Chemical Resistance: Chemically inert to waste water ingredients and ‘crown corrosion’ is nonexistent. 400mm dia DWC pipe weight only 8.4 Kg/m which is very less in comparison to RCC pipe & HDPE solid wall pipe. Available in 6mt. standard length. Flexible & adaptable to any type of soil and earth condition. Green piping material for environmental sustainability.

Technical Specification of DWC HDPE Pipes
